The Davis Security Institute offers the Annual Class G Recertification Course which meets or exceeds Chapter 493 Florida Statutes continuing body of training requirements for maintaining and renewing the Class G Statewide Security Firearms License. Licensees who are armed with a handgun depend on it as an instrument that may assure safety and protect life. The state expects that a licensee will be properly trained in, and knowledgeable of, the principles of safe firearm handling and care of the handgun. The course consists of classroom presentation, a written examination and live fire qualification.
Topics reviewed in the 4 hour course include:
- Applicable Florida laws and Legal Aspects
- Revolver and semiautomatic handgun operational safety
- Revolver and semi-automatic handgun mechanical training
- Tactical shooting and addressing multiple threats
- Firearm requalification
The cost for the Recertification Course is $75. Students are required to provide 150 rounds of ammunition. Handguns, hearing and eye protection can be rented from the range at nominal cost. You are encouraged to provide your own handgun, however use of a school firearm, targets and range fees are included in the cost of tuition. If you do provide your own handgun, it will be thoroughly inspected by the instructor before being allowed on the range.
